What is the AFQT Score?

The Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score determines your eligibility for military enlistment. It's calculated from four subtests: Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension.

How AFQT Scores Are Calculated

Your raw scores are converted to standard scores, then combined using a specific formula. The result is expressed as a percentile ranging from 1 to 99.

Minimum AFQT Scores by Branch

Each military branch has different minimum requirements: Army (31), Marines (32), Navy (35), Air Force (36), Coast Guard (40), Space Force (36).

Composite Scores

Beyond the AFQT, composite scores (also called line scores) determine which Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) you qualify for. Different combinations of subtest scores create different composite scores.

How to Improve Your Scores

Focus on the four AFQT subtests first, then branch out to improve specific composite scores based on your career goals.
